I recall a Top Gear episode featuring the Lotus Type 125 . If I had a stupid amount of money and really wanted a single-seater track toy, I’d look at the Scarbo SVF1 (in All-American Racers Eagle livery) first and probably the Lotus second ... and the BAC Mono third (I really like single seaters). Sure none of the three will turn a circuit like a real F1 car (the SVF1 could probably challenge the period cars its based on) but there’s something to be said for a bit of practicality, even when you’re stupid rich.

Owning a real deal F1 car seems like it’d be such a headache. You need an entire team of people on hand so that you can enjoy it and the actual cost of ownership is probably absurd (even for stupid rich people) when you consider engine/brake/tire/insert-component-here changes every few drives.

And yet... it’d still be really damn cool.

Yep and if I understand it right, it’s not as high maintenance as a real F1-sourced engine... though that’s probably relative.
